Burleigh Takes 1st in Wisconsin in Knowledge Master Open!
For fifteen years, Burleigh Elementary Students have participated in the Knowledge Master Open. We have always prided ourselves on a great showing in the state of Wisconsin and ranked high in participating schools around the world. Students from practically every state and several counties competed in the 36th Fifth and Sixth Grade Knowledge Master Open Academic Competition on March 20-21, 2007.
Thirty-Five fourth and fifth grade students participated in Burleigh's Knowledge Master Club this year. Club members met for many weeks meeting during lunch hours and a final team was selected in February. This team, consisting of 13 Fourth and Fifth graders, participated in additional practice before school to prepare for the big event. Students worked on increasing their content knowledge in the areas of math, literature, history, geography, fine arts and science as well as building their teamwork skills. On the day of the final event, students came into the competition excited and eager to perform their best ever! The team scored an amazing 689 points out of a possible one thousand capturing FIRST PLACE IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN and 37th in the WORLD.
