Real-time Weather from Burleigh Elementary

One of the interesting things at Burleigh is the weather station. It is a big hit for both students and teachers. The information is used for student projects and up-to-the-minute weather information. It is also used by schools in our district to check temperatures and weather conditions.

Burleigh has been certified as a National Homeland Security school. In case of a national emergency, our weather station will provide information useful to the national office.

We have three instruments. The first one, called the wind sensor, measures the wind speed and direction. The second one, called the remote weather module {RWM}, measures the temperature, humidity, and it has light sensors. The third one is a rain gauge which measures the rain fall. We also have a camera on our building and you can view it on the live AWS weather page.

The information is brought to a computer and a digital display. These are in our Discovery Lab.

Be sure to use our weather site at home. You can check the temperature and current conditions to see what to wear to school. If you are planning a trip, you can check for other AWS sites.
