Welcome to Tonawanda
July 2008
Dear Tonawanda Families,
I am so very excited to be joining Tonawanda Elementary School this year as principal. During the month of May, I had the opportunity meet with both the school faculty and PTO. The more I learn about Tonawanda School, the more fortunate I feel to be joining such a tight-knit, caring, and dedicated school community!
Prior to my work as a principal, I taught music at the elementary and secondary levels in both urban and suburban communities. This rich variety experiences grounded my commitment to collaboration and high quality learning experiences for all students. As an elementary principal in West Bend, interacting with students, teachers, and parents around our shared goal of student success was immensely rewarding. As I transition to Tonawanda, I bring that dedication and commitment to students and look forward to building on the already strong foundation of success.
I invite you to stop in this summer to say hello. You can also call me in the office or email me at kasmaria@elmbrookschools.org. I truly value parents and families as partners in education and I look forward to working with you toward the success of our student(s).
Enjoy your summer!
Sincerely,
Alexis Kasmarick
Tonawanda has an excellent reputation for fostering a warm, safe, nurturing learning environment. We offer quality educational programming and maintain high expectations for all of our children. Our Mission Statement and Beliefs reflect our commitment to children.
Tonawanda is a public school for children in grades K4 through fifth grade. Tonawanda is located in Elm Grove, Wisconsin and is one of six elementary school in the Elmbrook School District. We have an "open concept" setting which facilitates the use of team teaching and flexible grouping in a warm, caring, and professional climate. In addition, education within the arts is an important part of each child's learning. All children use piano keyboards as part of their music instruction. Technology such as SMARTboards and laptops are used to enhance daily instruction.
We expect our students to respect themselves and others and accept personal responsibility for their own learning. We have clear homework expectations for each grade level and a clearly defined discipline system that teaches our students to practice appropriate behavior at all times. Character traits are introduced and reinforced each month as we develop citizenship skills.
We see the home as our most important partner and the parents as their first and most important teachers. Parent involvement is greatly desired and sincerely appreciated. Tonawanda has a high number of parent volunteers in a variety of capacities. We will accommodate your schedules as much as possible. Tonawanda is a tight-knit community that shares in the responsibility of educating and inspiring each child.
Tonawanda is a dynamic and enthusiastic school where learning is our highest priority. The faculty and staff are highly trained and motivated professionals. We pride ourselves on the success of our students!
