  • Swanson Enrollment Analysis Committee Update from December 14 Meeting

    Posted January 7, 2016

The Committee met last on December 14, 2015 to review a draft report put together by District Administration. That report, which can be found here, focused on six prioritized options which are:

    1. Cafeteria Expansion
    2. Staffing Flexibility
    3. Boundary Choice with Transportation
    4. Modular Spaces
    5. Boundary Choice without Transportation
    6. Large Events Held Offsite

The group then looked at plotting these options onto a matrix that identified the impact on the current situation (high vs. low) and the ease of implementation (easy vs. difficult). The option(s) that were identified as having the highest impact on the issue are staffing flexibility, modulars, and cafeteria expansion. The committee will next meet on January 11, 2015 to discuss more in-depth the option of the expansion of the cafeteria at Swanson Elementary. Guests from Eppstein Uhen Architects and CG Schmidt will be present to discuss the current plan(s) and to speak in depth about the proposed process. Click here for draft report

Community Open Forum -- Monday, October 5

    Greetings Elmbrook Community,

The Swanson Enrollment Analysis Committee, made up of Swanson parents, staff, and administrators will hold a Community Open Forum on Monday, Oct. 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Swanson gym. The Open Forum will be the first of a minimum of two opportunities for Elmbrook stakeholders to discuss options and voice opinions on school enrollment issues.

The format for the Open Forum will be that of a World Cafe, which means members of the Swanson Enrollment Analysis Committee will host smaller groups of stakeholders and will pose critical questions and collect feedback from individuals within the group. Every individual will have the opportunity for their voice to be heard and recorded, and every group will have the opportunity to discuss themes that evening. Stakeholder input will be compiled by question and shared with all Swanson Enrollment Analysis Committee members for further discussion and consideration. We anticipate the World Cafe will run until 7:00 p.m.; and, time permitting, there will be an opportunity for groups to share major themes with each other prior to the conclusion.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, prior to the Community Open Forum, Swanson Enrollment Analysis Committee members will meet to formulate critical questions that will be used in the World Cafe. Additionally, these members will discuss data needs for future consideration and analysis.

Feedback collected at the Community Open Forum will be shared on the Elmbrook Website under the Swanson Enrollment Analysis tab. Please consider joining us at Swanson on Monday, October 5th. If you are unable to attend the Community Open Forum, then please check the Elmbrook School District website after Wednesday, September 30th for opportunities to provide feedback to the critical questions via a Google form.
