2012 Marquette Fall Math Meet

On Sunday, October 14, our students competed with 29 other schools, totaling over 350 students, at the 2012 Marquette Fall Math Meet.  We tied for 1st with Marquette in the team portion; however, due to our work on the last problem, which was the tie breaker, we took 2nd place - the highest we have yet to place at this meet.  Our 2nd place team pictured below in the back row left to right:  Katy Charnesky (9), Ling Shi (10), Robbie Szabo (12), Mihir Trivedi (11) and Akshaya Trivedi (11).  Front left to right:  Alex Wang (11), Sean Wei (9) and Hantao Jing (10).  Our team alternate students; who also scored high in the team round, on a team with Prairie School and Greendale students, were Katy Charnesky (9) and Sean Wei (9).  Individual competition awards:

Ribbon Winner:  7th place score Mihir Trivedi (tie),

Medals:  5th place score Ling Shi and Hantao Jing (tie)

2nd place:  Alex Wang (tie with the 1st place winner from the last 2 years - Marquette)

During the team round, it was quite apparent that we have prepared our students to respectfully work together on tough math problems - that in itself is a celebration for all of us!  Thank you to everyone who has sparked in their students an interest in mathematics and problem solving perseverance.
