Brookfield Central sophomores, Reilly Olinger and Laurel Chen, were recently named the 2016 Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) State Winners for Wisconsin. The SJWP is the world’s most prestigious youth award for a water-related science project. The two were sponsored by the Central States Water Environment Association in the 2016 competition held on June 17-18 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Their project entitled How Green Is “Green”? Assessing Detergent Toxicity on the Environment took a closer look at the differences between standard and eco-friendly detergents when inserted into suburban ecosystems.
