Due to the community's passage of a $62 million referendum in 2008, Brookfield East and Central High Schools
underwent major renovations.
Major improvements at Brookfield East include:
- Remodeled classrooms with new windows, doors, lights, ceilings and blinds for energy efficiency;
refreshed paint, flooring and casework for aesthetics - Safer, better-equipped science labs
- New fieldhouse to provide adequate space for multiple classes, athletic practices and large events
- New event lobby for community gathering before events
- Remodeled music spaces with improved lighting, acoustics, private rehearsal and storage space
- New black box theater for student drama rehearsals and performances
- More spacious cafeteria for lunch and common usage; better equipped and more efficient kitchen and serving area
- New guidance center for college and career planning
- Administrative and teacher planning areas for productive meetings with students and parents
- Increased fire protection with new sprinkler system
- Increased security with secure entrances, more video cameras and electronic monitoring of all exterior doors
- Energy and mechanical efficiencies with HVAC, electrical, boilers, plumbing
