Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Students,

Do you have an interest in maps, current events, people, and places? Do you enjoy learning about the world? If so, think about being in the Brookfield Elementary Geography Bee. Each year thousands of schools, grades 4 to 8, participate in the National Geographic Bee. The contest is designed to spark student interest in the subject and to increase awareness about the world around us. The National Bee is aired live from Washington, DC in May and has a grand prize scholarship of $25,000!

The competition will begin on Wednesday, January 17 at 8:15 in the Brookfield Elementary Library.

HID

Our annual PTO sponsored High Interest Day will be Friday April 27th

High Interest Day is one of the kids' favorite days of the school year. If you are not yet familiar with High Interest Day, it's an exciting day of learning when all of our students participate in a wide variety of hands-on classes in areas of special interest. We cannot do this without HUGE parent participation, and we are looking for involvement in the following ways:

Send us your ideas for fun classes! We are a small committee that works behind the scenes to make the day happen.

Teach a class! Parent-led classes are a huge hit with our students. Are you a scientist, a baker, a crafter, a doctor? Do you have an interesting or unusual hobby or talent? Our parent-teachers are supported by the HID committee and plenty of staff and volunteers to assist you as needed. If you taught last year, please save the date. We want you back again!

Assist on the big day! Please save this date on your calendar and plan to be part of this unique learning experience for all of the kids at Brook El. We need all kinds of volunteers behind the scene to make the day happen. Grandparents make great assistants, too. Volunteer opportunities will be posted in March.

If you would like to join in, please contact Tracey Brand at (262) 785-1059 or tntbrand@hotmail.com.
