OPEN ENROLLMENT PROGRAM

Wisconsin's inter-district public school Open Enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live. The Open Enrollment program is also available to current district residents, (1) who move out of the district during the current school year and wish to return to Elmbrook School District in the fall of the coming school year, or (2) who anticipate moving out of the district prior to the coming school year and would like to be eligible to return at that time.

The Open Enrollment application period is established in state law as beginning on the first Monday in February and ending at 4:00 p.m. on the third Friday that follows the first Monday in February. The application periods for upcoming school years are as follows:

2008-09 school year: February 4 to 22, 2008
2009-10 school year: February 2 to 20, 2009
2010-11 school year: February 8 to 26, 2010

Applications must be physically received by the Elmbrook School District by the application deadline. A post-mark is not sufficient. Applications are available by the first day of the application period through the Elmbrook School District's Central Administrative Offices located at 13780 Hope Street in Brookfield (hours: M-F, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). The Open Enrollment seats available in Elmbrook School District are then filled through random selection (lottery system).
