Extra-Curricular Activites
Elmbrook Schools places a high value on extra-curricular activies. Students are encouraged to be involved, whether through sports, music, drama, or other clubs.
The district high school athletic teams and individual athletes typically rank high within W.I.A.A. (Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association)
divisions. District high school sports are divided into varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen as illustrated in the chart at right.
The sports teams at both high schools excel, and are frequently represented at state competitions.
Annually, large numbers of music students from Brookfield Central and Brookfield East perform at the District Solo & Ensemble Festival in March and advance to the State music competition in April. Band, orchestra, and choral students at the six elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and Fairview South present music concerts each year.
The Brookfield Central and Brookfield East marching bands annually perform at each of their home football games. Members of the Brookfield Central and Brookfield East pep bands also perform for their own boys and girls basketball games.
The Elmbrook Symphony Orchestra, comprised of 120 string, wind and percussion students from Brookfield Central and Brookfield East, performs regularly at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center.
Middle School students present musical productions ranging from of "Annie", "Oklahoma", "The Music Man" and many more. Elementary students also get in on the act by presenting musicals and choral and band concerts each year..
Annually, the Pilgrim Park band, the Wisconsin Hills band, the Brookfield Central Marching Band, the Brookfield East Marching Band, and the combined Hillside Elementary and Tonawanda Elementary schools' fifth grade bands march in the Elm Grove Memorial Day Parade.
Co-curricular activities and clubs are offered beginning in the elementary grades with a full range offered at the secondary level to support student interests in such activities as drama, debate, journalism, student council, and service clubs. A high percentage of secondary students are involved in co-curricular activities.
