Odyssey of the Mind 2007/08
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving program for students in elementary school through college. Teams of 5 – 7 students choose 1of 5 given long term problems and work together for several months to create a solution to the problem. Problems are either technical or performance based. Teams meet outside of school at a team member's home and each team must have an adult coach. Teams present their solution to their long term problem along with a Spontaneous problem at the Odyssey of the Mind State Meet, which will be held this year on April 12, 2008 at Holmen High School, in Holmen, WI (near La Crosse). More information about Odyssey of the Mind can be found on the Wisconsin Odyssey of the Mind website at http://wi.odysseyofthemind.org/.
BCHS has a strong tradition doing well at OM state meets. For the past several years, BCHS teams have won their problem/division and have qualified to attend the OM World Competition which is held in late May at various college campuses. The 2008 OM World Competition will be held at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD from May 31 – June 3.
An OM informational meeting to discuss this year's problems was held on Nov. 1st. Teams are in the process of forming and must be approved by Mrs. Kemp before a team can begin working on solving their problem. If your have questions about the program, please contact Mardi Kemp at 262-938-2328 or mkemp3@wi.rr.com.
