The English Language Learners program (ELL) in the Elmbrook Schools is a language support system designed to help those students whose native language is other than English and who are not proficient in their use of English.  In this program, students in kindergarten through grade 12 learn to understand, speak, read and write English.  In addition, they are provided academic, cultural, and social support while they are adjusting to English-only instruction.

PROGRAM GOALS

  • Ensure all students succeed academically while becoming fully English Language Proficient.
  • Help students assimilate to changes in culture, school and learning.
  • Provide and prepare students for the greatest access to regular education environments for ELL students.
  • Assure that no child is unduly segregated based on his or her English Language Proficiency.
