Mission: SADD's mission is to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions. SADD recognizes that the pressures on young people to drink, use illicit drugs and engage in other unhealthy behaviors are strong. SADD seeks not to punish or alienate those students who make destructive choices but rather aims to inform, educate, support and empower young people to make positive decisions in their lives.
Campaigns and Activities: Every October, SADD acknowledges National Red Ribbon Week to promote substance-free living. A variety of school-wide activities are held depending mostly upon current member preferences. In October of 2006, SADD teamed up with Key Club to plant over 1,400 red tulips in the front of BEHS as a symbolic message about making good decisions. Fundraisers are also a big part of SADD's calendar year; the most popular is "Build Your Own Trailmix," proceeds of which go to help fund the club's yearly work. Springtime also lends itself well to at least one large event such as an all-school assembly.
Location and Time: The BEHS SADD Chapter typically meets every other Thursday at 7:15AM in room 108. All are welcome at any time, but regular attendance is encouraged.
