Brookfield East High School
Athletic Fields Concession Stand and Nature Center

Construction of a modern concession stand with heated restrooms to serve the athletic stadium and soccer field is nearing completion.
Reviewed by the district's Finance and Operations Committee and approved months ago by the Board of Education, this new facility is part of a continuing partnership with the citizen-school booster group, Brookfield East 2000 and Beyond.
To date, the volunteer organization has contributed nearly $700,000 toward school-wide and athletic improvement projects.
In response to rumors about the Dennis Meyer Concession Stand project and its relationship to the Elmbrook School District Nature Center, clarifications are as follows:

  • Rumor-1: Raw sewage from the concession stand will be dumped into the Nature Center.
    • CLARIFICATION
A lateral line now runs from the Concession Stand to an existing sewage pipe that already runs through the Nature Center. Where digging was needed, that area of the Nature Center will be fully restored.
  • Rumor-2: Numerous trees including some trees 200-years old will be destroyed to run the sewer lateral.
    • CLARIFICATION
No trees will be destroyed to complete the project.
  • Rumor-3: There will be significant construction damage to the Nature Center and the damage will be irreversible.
    • CLARIFICATION
There has been no damage to the Nature Center building or grounds. In fact, replacement paving is a significant improvement to the parking area outside of the fence that encloses the nature center building.

The contractors understand the value of the Nature Center and have worked closely with district facilities director, Dave Ross, to carefully protect trees and vegetation.
The school district acknowledges and appreciates the high level of interest in and devotion to the Nature Center.

The Nature Center and the new concession stand are located on the west side of the Brookfield East High School property, directly adjacent to the football and soccer game fields, just beyond and extending north from the home football bleachers.
