     Residents of the School District of Elmbrook are invited to attend the Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting of the Elmbrook Schools on Monday, June 25, 2007.
     The Budget Hearing begins at 7:00 p.m. and the Annual Meeting at 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Dixon Elementary School.
     Upon registration and proof of district residency, attendees are issued ballots and are admitted to the cafeteria. Registration begins at 6:40 p.m. There is separate seating for district and non-district residents to facilitate voting.
     Starting at 7:00 p.m., the Budget Hearing takes place at which the proposed budget for the 2007-08 school year will be explained and questions answered.
     Starting at 8:00 p.m., the Annual Meeting takes place at which several matters are voted upon.
     The outcome of the question(s) may be determined by a simple voice vote or by paper ballot. The vote to approve the tax levy for the coming year is advisory to the School Board, which finalizes the budget and tax levy in October.
          Expenditures for the 2007-08 General Fund (operating fund) total $82.4-million, an increase of 0.9-percent. All other funds show expenditures of $22.5-million. The General Fund is supported by $69.3-million in property taxes; the District's Debt Service Fund is supported by an additional $4.3-million in property taxes; the District's Community Service Fund is supported by an additional $0.1-million in property taxes.
     The overall levy rate is anticipated to be $9.44 per one thousand dollars of equalized value, which is a 25-cent ($0.25) decrease from the current year's equalized levy rate.
     The school is located at 2400 Pilgrim Square Drive, across from Wirth Park, just north of North Avenue. Please use the doors on either the northeast or southeast sides toward the rear of the school building.
