President Meg Wartman called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Public notice of the meeting was provided in accordance with Chapter 19.85 Wis. Stats.
Motion by Patrick Murphy to approve the July 31, 2007 agenda. Seconded by Tom Gehl and carried on a voice vote.
The High School Facilities Next Steps Steering Team had been reviewing enrollment projections and size of high schools for resident vs. non-resident students. The team was unable to determine a projection to use; therefore, had requested that the Board look at an independent study for enrollment projections. Bob Borch reported that RFPs were issued for high school enrollment projections only. Two firms provided quotes for the steering team to review. Following review, the steering team requested consideration of district-wide enrollment projections. The firms, Applied Population Laboratory and DeJong, then provided quotes for district-wide enrollment projections. The Board discussed the quotes, enrollment trends beyond five years, time to prepare enrollment projections, and Board presentation of projection report.
Motion by Tom Gehl that the Board authorize $4,000 for Applied Population Laboratory (APL) to conduct a study of resident enrollment and that such study also include follow up on question that go beyond 10 years or comment on state-wide enrollment data provided to the Board. Seconded by Cheri Sylla. The motion carried 6-1 on a roll call vote with Glen Allgaier, Tom Gehl, Patrick Murphy, Cheri Sylla, Meg Wartman, and Bob Ziegler in favor and Steve Schwei opposed.
Motion by Patrick Murphy to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Cheri Sylla and carried on a voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:09 p.m.
