THE SCHOOL YEAR IS UNDERWAY -- DRIVE SAFELY

Drivers, please beware and pay special attention on streets and roadways during the  2007-08 school year.

     - Watch not only for full-size and special-size school buses, but also for the increased traffic of parents driving children to or from school, as well as hundreds of teenage drivers traveling morning, afternoon and evening.

      - Be mindful of students walking or riding a bicycle to school. They may make sudden and surprising movements to cross a street.

     - Please use extra care to consciously drive more slowly when children are in sight and within school zones.

     - Be prepared to stop at a safe distance in front of, or behind any school bus when its red flashing lights are activated.

Every year brings the tragic news of a school student somewhere who has been hurt or killed in a traffic crash. Please take personal action to make it safe for students to get to and from school.
