Selection of freshmen homeroom mentors for the 2007-2008 school year were made in the beginning of August. Below is a clarification of the selection process that was used:
- Students completed and submitted an application
- Applications were reviewed by a selection committee
- Applicants were reviewed for behaviors that violate the student code of conduct (poor attendance, lack of school involvement, violations of the academic honesty policy, referrals, suspensions, etc.)
- Staff provided feedback on each of the applicants
- A selection committee made the final selection of the mentors
During this process we had to take into account that over 120 students applied and we were only able to select 60 of them as mentors. Additionally, we desired a balance of both 11th and 12th graders as well as junior and senior students.
If you are a junior, we strongly encourage you to reapply for the 2008-2009 school year. We will be developing and communicating the selection process in the spring.
Additionally, we strongly encourage every one of you to get involved in some aspect (activity or athletic based) of service and leadership here at BCHS.
