President's Statement

The Brookfield East PTO is a volunteer organization that works to foster the welfare of youth by bringing a closer relationship between home and school, parents and faculty.  Our officers consist of co-presidents, a vice president from each grade level, a secretary and treasurer.  The Executive Board is made up of the officers, the chairmen of the standing committees and the school principal.  The form and function of each committee provides support to our overall purpose and functionality.
We sponsor numerous school events such as Open House, Parent Teacher Conferences, and Freshman Orientation.  We compile, print and produce the Student Directory.  Our Spirit Wear Committee is the primary supplier of school logo apparel on campus.  We sponsor the programs presented by the Parent Network.  New families within the School District are called by the New Family Committee to be introduced to the community.  We have liaisons to the Elmbrook Education Foundation and the Elmbrook Parent Leadership Council.  Some of our special events include the Jr. Post Prom, Project Graduation, the Mother/Son Banquet and the Father/Daughter Banquet.
Fundraising is an important part of our organization.  Membership, our Bake Sale and the gift wrap sales have been our primary means of income this year.  Agreements with Pick N Save and SportClips provide us with cash back on purchases.
Most important is our mini-grant program.  Last year (06/07) our fundraising efforts awarded $10,000.00 in grants to the staff of Brookfield East.  This money supported the purchase of a smart board, graphing calculators, DNA/Chromosome Lego kits, and laptop computers.  Special Education, SADD and the Nature Center also benefited from our grant program.
I hope this gives you some insight as to what the PTO does for the students and staff at East.  Because the entire school benefits from this organization we need any assistance you can provide.  If you are not a member please give it special consideration.  Please feel free to give me a call (link) with any questions you might have.
