President Meg Wartman called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Public notice of the meeting was provided in accordance with Chapter 19.85 Wis. Stats. Motion by David Marcello that the Board of Education approves the May 6, 2008 agenda. Seconded by Glen Allgaier.
Rob Stieg, Boldt Consulting, reported that the architects have spent three days meeting with fifty-seven groups at each high school; that the Board will review site, elevations and schematic designs on May 13 and will be requested to approve on May 27. Abie Khatchadourian and John Holz, Plunkett Raysich Architects, reviewed site plans, elevations and schematic design progress to date for both high schools. Discussion included total number of parking spaces projected at each high school [approximately 700], possible development of Oak Grove Road, ingress and egress of traffic to include buses, meeting with Brookfield Central neighbors prior to May 27 Board meeting, scheduling of soil boring, alternative placement of gym at Brookfield Central, height limitations for gymnasiums, working with MMSD on rerouting sewer at Brookfield East, and the best design of science labs.
Rob Stieg discussed the role of the High School Building Committee that would be comprised of two to three Board members, volunteers from the High School Facilities Steering Team, volunteers from eProgress, and community volunteers for a total of seven members. The Committee was projected to meet from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, with the location to be determined. Volunteers were requested to contact Matt Gibson as soon as possible.
Motion by Glen Allgaier to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by David Marcello and carried on a voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 9:19 p.m.
