Arts In Community Education

A few notes about our ACE program:

The goal of the ACE program is the advancement of students' overall learning and development through a series of culturally diverse arts experiences integrated throughout the daily curriculum.

The MSO coordinates the curriculum, ensembles, and scheduling at participating schools.
We are one of 3 schools in the district that are fortunate enough to be able to participate
in this program because of the support of Swanson's Administration and Staff, PTO, and of
course all of our Swanson families!

ACE was selected as an enrichment opportunity for our kids because:

  • The program is based on age-appropriate curriculum that can be supported in the classroom
  • Minimizes time spent away from classroom/core curriculum
  • Provides a broad spectrum of experiences that most students would otherwise not receive
  • Takes advantage of grants awarded to the National Endowment of the Arts (of the $70/child cost to participate, we pay less than $20/child

Your ACE tuition, paid at the time of registration, will cover the following:

  • 3-4 in-school concerts
  • 1 family concert
  • 1 concert at Marcus Center including transportation costs

The ACE curriculum is integrated across many curricular areas for all grade levels through the use of mini-projects. Your child's teacher will provide more information on this as the year progresses. In addition, the 4th graders will be doing a comprehensive Multi Phase ACE project which will be tied into the 4th grade "On Going" Wisconsin musical performed at the end of the year. Preparation for this exciting event will begin in January and  continue into June. This ACE project is expected to span the following curricular areas: social studies, language arts, music, band/orchestra, art, physical education and library/technology.

These concerts are an entertaining and educational experience. Parents are invited to attend the school day on-sight ensemble performances. (because of the instructional nature of these concerts adult guests only, please)

The entire family is encouraged to participate in the Family Concert in spring. The schedule for all concerts will be posted on the Swanson website. If you have any questions or are
interested in volunteering contact Cheyney Bieber at (262) 641-0905 or Kristen Tan at (262)797-8278.
