Final Report of Candidates for Two Board of Education Seats Ups for Election on April 2, 2013
On Tuesday, April 2, 2013, District electors will be selecting two representatives to fill two open seats on the Board of Education. One of these seats will be an Area II seat and the other will be an at-large seat.
Glen Allgaier, the incumbent for the Area II seat, has filed a campaign registration statement, a declaration of candidacy, and over 100 nomination signatures with the District, completing the requirements to have his name placed on the April 2, 2013 ballot for the Area II seat. The deadline for submission of all paperwork to the District was 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. (Area II is roughly the northwest quadrant of the District).
Robert Ziegler, the incumbent for the at-large seat, has filed a non-candidacy notice with the District, indicating his decision not to seek re-election to this seat. Gary Jones has filed a campaign registration statement, a declaration of candidacy, and over 100 nomination signatures with the District, completing the requirements to have his name placed on the April 2, 2013 ballot for the at-large seat. The deadline for submission of all paperwork to the District was 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
Please note that residents of the School District of Elmbrook elect all Board of Education members, and each Board member represents the entire School District. Therefore, any resident of the District who is eligible to vote may nominate one candidate for each office. Once a resident has nominated a candidate for either of the two seats up for election on April 2, 2013, that resident may not nominate another candidate for that same office but is welcome to nominate a candidate for the other seat.
Candidate Profiles
Glen R Allgaier (Incumbent)
Why have you chosen to seek election to the Elmbrook Board of Education?
“I feel deeply committed to the public education system. The Elmbrook School District has provided five of our children with rich experiences in academics, athletics and the arts. We are making good progress in the district and I want to contribute to further strengthening the “Elmbrook experience.” I feel that my business skills can help us effectively manage the significant pressures on the district budget. “
What personal philosophies and experience do you have that will help you best represent the Elmbrook electorate?
“My years of experience on the school board help in understanding the issues facing administrators and teachers. My years as a senior manager in a Fortune 500 company provide insights regarding fiscal responsibility and team building. I am an advocate of: student learning as top priority, fiscal responsibility, data-based decision-making, and community engagement. I was instrumental in the formation of a High School Facilities Team that consisted of key leaders of opposing viewpoints and resulted in a successful referendum that upgraded our two high schools. I was actively involved in the development of a five-year financial plan and believe we need to be more pro-active in applying technology for distance learning. I strongly believe in transparency and community engagement in our decision-making processes.”

Why have you chosen to seek election to the Elmbrook Board of Education?
“I served a term on the Elmbrook Board a few years ago and did not run for re-election, as I was going to be on an assignment out of town. When I returned, I was disappointed to find that no one was running for Bob Ziegler’s seat. I am available and willing to help out the district by filling this seat for the next three years.”
What personal philosophies and experience do you have that will help you best represent the Elmbrook electorate?
"I hope the skills I acquired, serving previously, will help me blend well with the current excellent board members. I will work hard to understand and vote responsibly on the issues that come before the board during my term."
