Policy 5145 - Free and Reduced Meals for Eligible Students
The District shall participate in the National School Lunch Program and receive commodities donated by the United States Department of Agriculture.
The Board of Education shall make a determination regarding continued participation in the program in August of each year by approval of the School Lunch Agreement.
The District shall conform to all requirements of the National School Lunch Program with respect to determining the eligibility of children for free and reduced meals. Students served free or reduced meals shall be treated the same as students who are paying full price for the meals.
The right of a person to be admitted to any school in the District, and to participate fully in and enjoy the benefits of any curricular, extracurricular, pupil services, recreational or other programs or activities will not be abridged or impaired because of discrimination based upon the person's sex, race, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation or physical, mental, emotional or learning disability. Sex shall not be utilized as a determinant for participation in a program except when sex is a bona fide qualification.
The district encourages informal resolution of complaints under this policy. However, if any person believes that the District or any part of the school organization has failed to follow the law and rules of Wis. Stats.118.13 and PI 9, Wis. Admin. Code, or in some way discriminates against persons on the bases listed above, he/she may bring or send a written complaint to the following address: Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, School District of Elmbrook, 13780 Hope Street, P.O.
