This award will be presented as part of the Engaged in Excellence Awards celebration on Monday, May 6, at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center.

Brookfield Central graduate Barbara (Schomann) Consigny (‘58) and Brookfield East graduate Dan Buran (‘64) are the recipients of Elmbrook’s 2024 Alumni Excellence Awards. The awards are being presented to Barbara and Dan who were members of the first graduating classes of their respective schools, and have continued to give back to the Elmbrook community through teaching and their involvement with programs. These awards will be presented as part of the Engaged in Excellence Awards ceremony on Monday, May 6, which will be held at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center and available on the Elmbrook Schools YouTube channel.
We are sad to share that Harvey Evans passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Harvey was the longest-employed individual in the history of the Elmbrook Schools, serving thousands of students through his custodial services at Fairview South, Dixon and Swanson Elementary Schools for 53 years from 1971 to 2024.
Brookfield East Class of 1964
Dan Buran is one of the members of the original graduating class of Brookfield East in 1964, and now his grandchildren are also benefiting from Elmbrook’s high-quality educational opportunities.

On Friday, April 12, WCASS Board Member, Jeanne Siegenthaler, joined Elmbrook staff for the celebration of this year’s award recipients: Matt Schroeder, Administrator of the Year Award (Principal, Wisconsin Hills Middle School); Luis Gutierrez, Personal Achievement Award (Student at Brookfield Central); and Ellia Trochelman (Student at Brookfield Central), Student Advocate of the Year!

Barbara Consigny is a member of the original graduating class of Brookfield Central (BC) in 1958, and continued to give back to the community as a Brookfield Elementary Kindergarten teacher for many years.
Nine Elmbrook student speedskaters competed at the 2024 US Short Track Speedskating Age Group National Championships held in Midland, Michigan. Brookfield Central (BC) alum Aaron Liu (2023) broke a 15-year record in the Junior A Division’s 1000m - making him a two-time national champion, and current BC sophomore Aidan Liu took home the Junior C Division’s Short Track Age Group Nationals Championship - making him a three-time national champion!
John Broenen is Elmbrook’s Food Service Production Coordinator, stationed out of Wisconsin Hills. John orders, organizes and coordinates food deliveries and kitchen supplies for four elementary schools and an area parochial school. Broenen started with Elmbrook in 2000 and has impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of students through work.

On March 14, Dixon Elementary School’s annual Empty Bowls & Gallery Night fundraiser raised over $7,000 for the Milwaukee Rescue Mission! The evening showcased student art around the school and included a wildly popular glow room which featured blacklights and glowing artwork.

The School District of Elmbrook's School Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves. On Thursday, April 4 the Board will host a Listening Session at the Elmbrook Schools District Office (3555 N. Calhoun Road) starting at 7pm regarding the Hillside Elementary School Property. The new Elmbrook Robotics and Automation space at Brookfield East High School held an open house on Tuesday, March 19 which included a ceremonial ribbon-cutting!

190 Orchestra, Choir and Band Students from both schools participated as a part of the "Celebration of the Arts" state-wide celebration to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Wisconsin Arts Board.
Brookfield East High School sophomore, Avery Lauenstein, who won the second round of the International German Olympiad on Saturday, March 2. Avery will represent the United States in the international competition this July in Göttingen, Germany, where she will work with and compete against high school students from 75 countries.

The Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association (WEMTA) recently hosted the statewide Battle of the Books (BOTB) competition, and Pilgrim Park Middle School tied De Pere for first place, taking home the coveted state championship title!
The Brookfield East and Brookfield Central co-op hockey team battled defending state champions the Notre Dame Academy Tritons to a 3-1 finish that ended their stellar season as the state runners-up on Saturday, March 2 in Middleton.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program is the nation's longest-running, largest, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. In 2022 alone, students across the United States and Canada entered more than 260,000 original works across 28 different categories.
