Daywalt signing books On May 4, Drew Daywalt, best-selling author of The Day The Crayons Quit visited Tonawanda Elementary to speak to over 300 students and read his latest book, The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

On May 4, Drew Daywalt, best-selling author of The Day The Crayons Quit visited Tonawanda Elementary to speak to over 300 students and read his latest book, The Legend of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Daywalt's visit began by meeting students and signing books in the library. He opened his presentation by battling Principal Kristin Olson in a Rock, Paper, Scissors match that was declared a draw. During his presentation, he shared his inspiration for writing the book and described his journey to becoming an author, including writing for several blockbuster movies and television shows. Daywalt concluded his visit by discussing some "top secret" upcoming projects and answering several student questions.

The author visit was made possible at no cost to the District by Elmbrook Schools' community partner, Boswell Book Company.
