Brookfield Gymnastics, a co-op team comprised of athletes from both Central and East, finished third at the WIAA State Team Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids.
Brookfield Gymnastics, a co-op team comprised of athletes from both Central and East, finished third at the WIAA State Team Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids. In addition, the team captured the title of Conference and Sectional Champions for second year in row.
During individual competition, BCHS senior Caitlin Locante won her first state championship on the floor exercise with a state record-breaking routine. BEHS freshman Lexi Penney became the state champion on the balance beam. BCHS junior Lexi Romero earned the most trips to the podium for Brookfield placing on 4 events. "This was by far the most successful weekend for Brookfield in 17 years of co-op team history," Brookfield coach Erin Kokta said. "I am so proud of how the girls conducted themselves all weekend." State team members consisted of Co- Captain Caitlin Locante, Lexi Penney, Lexi Romero, junior Rose Dundun, freshman Sophie Latona, and freshman Riley Feng. Co-Captain, junior, Christina Kirmis was unable to compete due to injury
