Elmbrook Donates to Milwaukee Rescue Mission

Students stuff purses with suppliesOn December 21, a total of nearly 400 purses were delivered to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission for their 5,000 Purses Project on behalf of women in need. The purses were full of health and beauty essentials, cash, restaurant gift cards, and other valuable items for homeless mothers and daughters, generously donated by Elmbrook students and staff. An additional 30 "man bags" were also stuffed and donated.

The project, lead by Central Administrative Office's Jean Loepfe, gained tremendous student support throughout the district. Swanson student, Baleigh Miller ran her own campaign to collect hats, scarves and mittens, and Brookfield East's Key Club held a Purse Drive for the cause.

Brookfield Central and Brookfield East's Key Clubs helped assemble the supplies in the purses and bags. The rescue mission will be displaying the purses and bags on shelving units and having men and women pick one out for the holiday with any remaining purses being distributed throughout the cold winter months.

Thank you to all who donated!
