Highlights of the May 23, 2017 Board meeting reported by Christy Westfall, Secretary to the Board:

Brookfield Central High School highlighted the accomplishments of state swim champion, Ryan Linnihan and Brookfield East student Colin Gray-Hoehn, recently named a U.S. Presidential Scholar for the state of Wisconsin.

The Board approved the following:

• Personnel Matters: Resignations(s), Retirement(s), New Hire(s), Leave(s) of Absence, Contract Modification(s), Non-Renewal(s)
• Second Reading: 9000 Policy Series (Board of Education)
• Recent Gifts to the District
• 2017-18 Committee and Liaison Assignments

The Board of Education was provided updates on or discussed the following:

• Stacy Babl reviewed changes in the Employee Handbook
• Emily Greiber and Michael Sereno presented the K-12 Social Studies primary resources being recommended to support the updated Social Studies curriculum
• Dan Pavletich reviewed revisions for the Teachers' Strategic Compensation plan
• Kristin Sobocinski and Mark Hansen presented the 2017-18 preliminary budget
• Mark Hansen and Kristin Sobocinski presented the annual review of all property and casualty insurance coverage
• First Reading of policies in the 3000 (Business and Non-Instructional Operations) and 4000 (Human Resources) series
