On Sunday, October 29, author Kate DiCamillo spoke to the community at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. Her presentation included stories of her childhood and her start in writing, a question and answer period with the audience, discussions about the importance of reading and a look into her writing process.

DiCamillo highlighted her newest picture book, La La La. In January, all elementary families will be receiving her book, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, for our first all district elementary read. She is one of only six authors to receive the John Newbery Award twice. Her body of work includes Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tale of Despereaux, and Flora and Ulysses, among numerous other titles.

Following her presentation, DiCamillo signed books and took photos with her fans and their families. The presentation was made possible by Elmbrook Schools' community partner, Boswell Books, and Oconomowoc Books & Company.
