Meet the Principal

Kelly Szesterniak

Hello, I’m Kelly Szesterniak! I have been the Principal of Pilgrim Park since 2019 and am also a proud graduate of Elmbrook. I love being a middle school principal because I have the opportunity to work closely with highly competent and compassionate teachers, parents and students toward building an inclusive learning community where our students can flourish socially, emotionally, and academically.

I graduated from UW-Green Bay in 2002 with a teaching degree in Elementary Education with a Science and Environmental Studies emphasis and later earned my Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from California State University - Fullerton in 2007.

Prior to Elmbrook, I taught Science, Math, Reading, English, and Social Studies for 7 years at middle schools in California and Ohio. I worked as an administrator for 10 years, serving as Assistant Principal at Lakeside Middle School and Mellon Middle School, before becoming Principal of Hoover Elementary School and Jefferson Middle School in Pittsburgh, PA.

The teachers in our building are each highly competent within their curricular areas, compassionate and kind to their middle school students and all the energy that comes with them, and committed to continuous improvement for themselves and our students. We have a staff that strives to make each student's experience in middle school a safe, positive, and enjoyable three years that they can look back on fondly.

My husband and I have two daughters and we love spending quality time together. Outside of school, I enjoy running and playing golf and tennis.

If you have any questions about Pilgrim Park, please feel free to schedule a tour or send me an email me – I will be happy to assist. Thank you, and GO PANTHERS!
