Continuous Improvement Framework Update
05 October 2012
Earlier this school year the Elmbrook School District hosted the annual Leadership Academy. The academy is designed to provide teams from each school the opportunity to review their school performance results and begin reviewing strengths and opportunities for improvement. With 150 educators engaged in continuous improvement planning, the district continues the work on going from great to greater.
Since the Leadership Academy, every school and district division finished a Plan, Do, Study Act process to guide the important school improvement efforts. Each school established an improvement plan regarding literacy, mathematics and school climate/culture. Later this month we will begin publishing these documents on each school’s website for all stakeholders to review. Principal chats have included or will include deeper discussion at each school regarding their specific efforts. These efforts are also being duplicated with board committees. To assess our progress, each school, division and board committee will deploy a dashboard and scorecard monitoring system.
To move from great to greater, we need to have a plan or road map to guide our work. This plan must be informed by data so we can manage by fact more successfully. The challenging work of organizational change and continuous improvement has been embraced by our leadership team that includes teachers and principals. Thanks and congratulations to all that have participated so far!
