Dear Swanson Families,
As I write this message, we are close to our winter break time, and doing our best to keep the students engaged right up until dismissal on Friday! Many classrooms have special projects planned to keep interest high.
It was great to see some of you during our open library hours on Tuesday evening. I will keep you posted as I schedule additional evening hours throughout the school year. Please encourage your child(ren) to read over the break. Consider spending time each evening to talk about what they're reading, and they are never too grown up to listen to you read! For our older readers, you could take turns reading aloud together!
And speaking of older students... There is a terrific opportunity coming up at Brookfield Central High School for parents to learn about raising teenagers! On Saturday, January 13, 2018, Brookfield Central will be hosting the 1st Annual Family University. The goal of this event is to help parents and community members LEARN, SHARE, and CONNECT with one another for support through the challenges of raising teens. The sessions cover a wide range of important and relevant topics. Click here to see the full list of sessions.
The event is free and for planning they are asking for parents to pre-register for it. Click here to register for this special event.
Wishing all of you a safe and fun winter break! See you in 2018!
Kori Hartman, Principal
