Meet the Principal
Hello, I’m Lisa Rettler and I began as principal of Wisconsin Hills in 2015! Our staff’s core commitment of fostering strong relationships with students, families and our community shows in our devotion to proficiency through innovative practice, authentic engagement, and positivism. Our rigorous academic program is infused with key 21st Century Skills including critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, collaboration, digital literacy and citizenship.Through a respectful, responsible and safe environment, we strive to help each child achieve their full potential!
I earned my Bachelors of Science from UW-La Crosse in French and English in Secondary Education, 6-12, and a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. As part of my undergrad work, I completed a semester abroad in Caen, France, and received a "Certificat de Pratique de Langue Française”. I earned my second Masters in Educational Leadership through Cardinal Stritch University in 2010. Currently, I hold a Principal and Director of Instruction Licenses.
Prior to Elmbrook, I taught French at Waukesha West High School for 14 years and served as Associate Principal for five years at Pewaukee’s Asa Clark Middle School. In addition to multiple awards with my Asa Clark team, I was named 2014 Wisconsin Principal of the Year by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA). I am a member of AWSA, the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and I have presented best practice at numerous state and national conventions.
I absolutely love working with all learners- student and adult- to discover the best ways to learn and grow. We are in an exciting era in education, and the transformation that lies ahead is leading us to ensuring a system that delivers to every student, every time, all the time.
I have two wonderful children and a husband who is a small business owner. We enjoy game nights, hiking, skiing, biking, and traveling. I love to read and network with educators around the world via social media.
