On October 26, the Spartan Girls marked their first State Team Championship win, making their ninth State Tournament appearance a historic one at The Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison. The second-seeded team triumphed over top-rated Arrowhead, the two-time defending Division 1 champions.
Brookfield Central Junior Aidan Liu recently qualified for the prestigious 1st and 2nd Junior World Cups for short track speed skating! Liu will be heading to Italy, where he’ll compete in November, representing both Elmbrook and the United States in these high-stakes events.

On October 15, Brookfield East Junior Payton Haugen took second in the WIAA Girls Golf Championships for the second year in a row, finishing with a score of six (-6) under par. Haugen tied for first and forced a playoff hole against Beaver Dam / Wayland Academy’s golfer to become one of only three student-athletes in WIAA history to score a record 138 strokes through 36 holes.

Author Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic visited Burleigh Elementary on Thursday, October 10, to speak to 170 third graders. Her visit was in promotion of her new children’s book Daphne Draws Data, and included a graph-drawing activity with high school students from Elmbrook’s LAUNCH Future Teachers strand. Cole’s book uses fun, colorful adventures with Daphne the Dragon to show young learners how data can be visualized to solve problems.
On Thursday, October 3, Elmbrook Director of Technology Dan Scott participated in a K-12 Cybersecurity roundtable with National Cyber Director Harry Coker Jr. and State Superintendent Jill Underly, among others. The roundtable discussion centered around the importance of being proactive in protecting school district infrastructure from cyber threats.

Best-selling and award-winning author Loren Long visited Brookfield Elementary on Wednesday, October 2, to speak with over 350 students and staff from Brookfield Elementary School. His visit celebrated the release of his latest children’s book, The Yellow Bus, which explores themes of joy, purpose, and companionship told through the life of a school bus.
