BC Senior Selected for GSAFE Youth Advisory Council
Harshman Sihra

Brookfield Central Senior, Harshman Sihra, was recently selected to be a member of the GSAFE Youth Advisory Council out of over 70 highly-qualified applicants in its inaugural year.

GSAFE supports schools and LGBTQ+ youth across the state of Wisconsin. They develop the leadership of LGBTQ+ youth, support Genders and Sexualities Alliances (GSA), train educators, advance educational justice, and deepen racial, gender, trans, and social justice. The GSAFE Youth Advisory Council is made up of statewide youth leaders in LGBTQ+ activism. The Youth Council encourages state-wide alliance for GSAs, leads monthly support and planning calls, and participates in 3 retreats to promote and advance allyship.

"I'm so glad to have the opportunity to serve on the Youth Council and I'd like to thank the Brookfield Central GSA advisors (Mrs. Conway and Mrs. Grube) and the administration that has supported GSA's mission of fostering a safe and welcoming learning community,” said Sihra. “Creating a safe environment for LGBTQ+ students is something I've always wanted to do, and I'm elated to further my journey by serving on the council and continue to make a positive impact on the BC School Community.”
