Brookfield Central graduate Tom Vento ('86), and Brookfield East graduate Damian Buchman ('97) are the recipients of the District's 2022 Alumni Excellence awards. The awards are being presented to Tom and Damian for their service to the greater Elmbrook community and their resilient battles with cancer. These awards will be presented as part of the Engaged in Excellence Awards celebration on Monday, May 2, which will be held in-person at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center and live-streamed on the Elmbrook Schools YouTube channel.
Tom Vento served the Brookfield and Elm Grove Police Departments for a total of 33 years, finishing his career in 2020 as Captain of the Patrol Division. During his time on the force, Vento battled cancer on three occurrences over 12 years and through 15 surgeries, but his service to his community never waivered. Throughout his career, he built strong connections throughout the Brookfield and Elm Grove communities, fostered an environment through his leadership that allowed others to develop and succeed, and saved lives.
