Brookfield Central and Brookfield East students and staff joined forces on Friday, September 29 for the Fifth Annual GOLD OUT event in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The Elmbrook community wore gold to the Brookfield Central / Brookfield East football game at East's Stadium, and Key Club members from both high schools sold gold t-shirts throughout the week to raise awareness and benefit childhood cancer research.
Fellow cancer survivors Brookfield Central sophomore, Maggie Conlon, and Brookfield East senior, Brittany Schober, shared a heartfelt message with the attendees before the game began. CBS 58 anchor and BEHS alum, Jessica Tighe, joined the girls on the field.
Prior to the game, students collected more than 1,000 pounds in food donations for the WISN 12 Football Challenge to benefit Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. The donation was the largest of the WISN challenge this year and was made possible with transportation help from GO Riteway. Thank you to the Elmbrook student community for their incredible support of these efforts.
