Physical Education Course Requests - FAQs
Physical Education Requirements and Information:
- 3 PE courses (1.5 credits) are required across three years
- One of those courses needs to be PE 09
- The other two PE courses must be taken across two separate years
- You may waive one PE class, one time during junior or senior year
- To do this, you will utilize the PE Credit Option Form; please see the requirements below to qualify for the PE Credit Option
- You need to be over in credits in one of your core area graduation requirements.
- Minimum requirements:
- English 4.0 credits
- Math 3.0 credits
- Science 3.0 credits
- Social Studies 3.0 credits
PE Credit Option Information
- Any level WIAA sanctioned sport completed during junior or senior year
- Any approved formal activity outside of school
- It should not be assumed that the outside activity will satisfy this requirement. The activity will need to be presented to and approved by Mr. Gruetzmacher
- You will substitute a core class beyond graduation requirements
- E.g. taking a 4th credit of math would qualify since 3 credits are required for graduation
- The course you choose to take in lieu cannot be a required course for graduation
- e.g., AP Government cannot be listed for PE Credit Option
- This .5 credit will replace your PE class
- Complete and submit the form to your counselor with signatures from student, guardian, and coach or athletic director
Summer PE Information
- Summer school operates on a lottery system.
- Sign up does not guarantee a spot
- In-person attendance is strict - check vacation dates and work schedules carefully
- Students who plan to take summer gym still should register for a PE class in their schedule requests.
- Student Services / Ms. Ferschl will contact students who have earned summer PE credit to clarify which alternates would be preferred and are available to replace the PE course
- Student should request alternates for what they would like to take instead of PE
