BEHS Students Take Second in CyberPatriot Challenge

A team of Brookfield East students took second place in the annual Air Force Association (AFA) CyberPatriot competition and earned scholarship money for their efforts! CyberPatriot is a National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association “to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future”.

The team was composed of BEHS students Reily Campos (Junior), Johnny Chen (Sophomore), Amoolya Mammula (Sophomore), Noah Rethwisch (Freshman), and Alan Sudhan (Junior) (pictured below L to R).

"These students are dedicated to learning the field of computer science.They taught themselves cybersecurity in order to participate in the CyberPatriot competition, and their commitment paid off!” said Fatima Tlemsani, Brookfield East Computer Science Advisor. “Congratulations to all these students on their great achievement!"

The competition challenged teams of high school and middle school students to find and fix cybersecurity vulnerabilities in virtual operating systems. Congratulations to the team on their amazing, national accomplishment.
