BEHS Senior Bera Demirbilek Wins Wisconsin Congressional Debate Tournament

BeraCongratulations to Brookfield East senior and salutatorian Bera Demirbilek for winning 1st place at the Wisconsin State Congressional Debate Tournament!

Brookfield East's Congress team competed in a day-long Congressional Debate via Zoom on Saturday, May 23rd. After preparing arguments for and against the legislation, four members from Brookfield East's team, Bera Demirbilek (senior), Vivek Srivastava (senior), Anant Jhaveri (freshman), and Akshat Channashetti (freshman) made the finals round. Additionally, Sameer Bhatt was the best presiding officer at State for preliminaries.

"We wish our seniors the best of luck with their future endeavors," said Head BEHS Forensics Coach Michael Maier. "These students have left an incredible mark on our organization." Bera Demirbilek will continue on to Stanford University and Vivek Srivastava will continue on to the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Other competitors from the team included Rishav Kumar, Viktor Sakman, Karishma Santebennur, David Jia, Thevindu Perera, Akash Moorching, James Orejuela, and Muthukumar Sundar. Congratulations to all state participants!
