L to R: Braden Rumpit, Michael LinnihanOn Saturday, February 16, several student-athletes from Brookfield Central and Brookfield East competed at the WIAA Boys State Swimming and Diving Meet. Led by three individual state championships, the Brookfield Barracudas finished 5th in the team competition behind Madison West, who won its second straight state title.

Brookfield East Senior Braden Rumpit made it to the top of the podium with his first Division 1 State Championship in the 1 Meter Diving competition with a final score of 486.55. Rumpit previously took third place as a Junior and fourth as a Sophomore in the event.

Brookfield Central Junior, Michael Linnihan earned two Division 1 State Championship titles in the 100 Freestyle (44.94) and the 200 Freestyle (1:39:00), swimming the fourth fastest times of all-time in both events.  Michael's time in the 100 Freestyle also qualifies him as an All-American.

Both athletes followed in their brothers' footsteps by winning a state title. Michael's brother Ryan was the 50 Freestyle State Champion in 2017, and Braden's brother Connor was the 500 Free State Champion in 2016.

Congratulations to Braden and Michael, as well as the other Barracuda state competitors: Jack Browne, Michael Long, Brady Miller, Nick Elwing, AJ Smith, Brian Daniels, and Ido Korabelnikov on a fantastic finish to their season!
