On Friday, June 29th, Brookfield East officially dedicated the Ted Kanavas Baseball Field during a community ceremony in honor of the late alumnus.

Kanavas (BEHS Class of '79) was a proud supporter of Brookfield East academics and athletics and was instrumental in improving the Spartan Baseball Field as a member of East 2010 & Beyond. Governor Scott Walker, Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, and State Senator Leah Vukmir were in attendance to celebrate Ted's contributions to the Elmbrook community.

"Honoring the incredible legacy of Mr. Kanavas through this dedication recognizes how many lives he touched through his selfless work," said Principal Andy Farley. "His impact on baseball in Brookfield and the BEHS Community will be felt for generations to come."

Ted also served as a state senator, school board member, successful businessman and youth baseball coach. Ted is survived by his wife Mary, and their three children, Kelly, Nick and Kate.
