On Saturday, November 16, the Brookfield East Girls Swimming and Diving Team won their first-ever Division 1 State Championship at the UW Natatorium in Madison.

The girls team started the swimming portion of the meet with a state record-setting performance in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, breaking a fourteen-year-old record with a time of 1 minute 42.71 seconds. Relay swimmers included Abby Wanezek, Lucy Thomas, Reilly Tiltmann, and Callie Gregg. In addition, individual championships went to freshman Lucy Thomas in the 100 Yard Breaststroke; and junior Reilly Tiltmann, who defended her title in the 100 Yard Backstroke.

Other state place winners included a runner-up finish by the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Reilly Tiltmann, Kamryn Dembny, Reese Tiltmann, and Abby Wanezek; Reilly Tiltmann who took second in the 100 Yard Butterfly; Abby Wanezek who took second in the 50 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Backstroke; Lexi Penney who took fourth in 1 Meter Diving; Reese Tiltmann who took fourth in the 200 Yard Individual Medley; and Lucy Thomas who took fifth in the 50 Yard Freestyle.

In all, Brookfield East totaled 243 points, 23 points ahead of the second-place team, Arrowhead.
