Womens' Swimming and Diving

Congratulations to the Spartan Women's Swimming and Diving for winning the WIAA Divison One State Championship in Madison on Saturday.  The team set one state record, won 3 events, set 7 school records and earned 7 first team All American Honors.

The medley relay team of Abby Wanezek, Lucy Thomas, Reilly Tiltmann and Callie Gregg broke a 14-year-old state record that was the National High School record when it was set.   Other event winners were Reilly Tiltmann in the 100 backstroke and Lucy Thomas in the 100 breaststroke.  Second-place finishes were added by Reilly Tiltmann in the 100 butterfly and Abby Wanezek in the 50 freestyle.  Abby joined Reilly for a rare one-two finish in the 100 backstroke.  The 400 freestyle relay of Reilly Tiltmann, Kamryn Dembny, Reese Tiltmann and Abby Wanezek also added a second place finish.  Lexi Penney earned a 4th place finish in diving and Reese Tiltmann added a 4th place finish in the 200 individual medley and 7th in the 500 freestyle.   Kamryn Dembny added a 17th place finish in the 100 butterfly and 19th in the 200 freestyle and Callie Gregg finished 18 in the 100 breaststroke.

Reilly, Abby, Lucy, Reese, Kamryn and Callie all earned automatic All American Honors meaning their times in individual or relay events will rank in the top 50 times in the country this year.
