This past weekend, your Spartan Chess Team competed in the State High School Chess Championship at UW-Oshkosh. After battling hard all weekend, we came up just short in the championship round versus New Berlin Eisenhower. Leading the team with 4.5 out of five points was junior Shiv Muthupandiyan. Sophomore Abraham Albiter and freshman Agatya Bhadoria each scored four points as the team finished 4th overall.

The varsity reserve teams finished 2nd and 4th in Division 2, showing the depth and bright future of our team. Juniors Edward Zheng and Pratyush Rajesh led the reserves with four points each.

The JV team also shined, finishing in second place in the state. The JV squad was led by Anubhav Parida, Ayush Dwivedi, Nathan May and James “Pablo” Orejuela.

The team would like to thank senior captains Anant Jhaveri and Kipras Brazauskas for their leadership and dedication to Spartan chess over the past four years. We wish you and all of our seniors continued success.
