March 13, 2020 - Elmbrook becomes first District to announce transition to virtual learning on Monday, March 16 ( Video: https://vimeo.com/398948961 )

March 25, 2020 - Safer at Home Order: Gov. Evers announces initial Safer at Home order which eventually changes the 19-20 school year to completely virtual learning.

June 10, 2020 - Weekly meetings conducted with Waukesha County Executive and Health Department and area Superintendents (Safe Schools Resources)

June 11, 2020 - End of 2019-20 School Year: The 2019-20 school year comes to a close with virtual and drive-thru graduation ceremonies.

June 12, 2020 - School Reopening Task Force (SRTF) is established

July 1, 2020 - Learning Hub website is created to provide parents, students, and staff with updates and information for learning, COVID updates, etc.

August 11, 2020 - Board of Education:

approves SRTF’s recommended School Reopening Plan including both virtual and in-person instructional options

establishes Medical Advisory Board (MAB)

universal masking policy is implemented for 2020-21 school year

August 16, 2020 - Families declare in-person or virtual learning preference, with 75% choosing in-person learning.

August 18, 2020 - Medical Advisory Board is formed and meets weekly to analyze disease data and provide guidance to Board and District leadership. Updates are shared on website following each meeting

August 21, 2020 - Facility Profiles are created to transparently show updates and facility mitigation strategies

September 2020 - COVID Tracing Team is implemented to monitor and quarantine students to help mitigate spread of disease within school environments

September 1 - In-person instruction begins with soft-start model

September 4, 2020 - COVID Dashboard is created to transparently display active COVID cases, disease spread data, absences, and community disease data

September 8 - In-person and virtual instruction begin full-time

October 13, 2020 - Tonawanda Elementary is first school to transition to Temporary Virtual Learning to slow disease spread within school, a strategy used four times during the school year.

October 26, 2020 - CDC updates guidelines for Close Contacts which confirm Elmbrook’s approach

November 2020 - Quarter 2 Transition option announced, staffing analyzed between each quarter

November 2020 - MAB recommends all schools transition to virtual learning surrounding Thanksgiving holiday due to high community disease spread

February 2021 - Through partnership with Hayat Pharmacy & the Elmbrook Family Wellness Center, Elmbrook staff are offered opportunity to receive vaccination

April 6, 2021 - Last quarter begins with 81% of students in-person and 19% (nearly 1,700 students) virtual.

August 11, 2021 - Board of Education Approves 2021-22 Return to Learn Plan with Modifications

September 14, 2021 - COVID Indicators & Thresholds: Board of Education approved District COVID Indicators and Thresholds and associated layers of mitigation. Following approval of the District’s Return to Learn Plan in August, the Board had tasked District Administration to identify key indicators, thresholds, and layers of mitigation in response to disease activity. The approved thresholds; that include an approach to School and Classroom/Activity disease activity as well as workforce stability, were discussed and modified at length before reaching approval.
