For over 30 years, the Elmbrook Parent Network has been providing education opportunities for parents and caregivers in our community. The School District of Elmbrook is privileged to have an active and engaged family community. We welcome all parents and caregivers to become involved in Parent Network.
PN is a parent-run volunteer organization financially supported by the Parent Teacher Organizations in the School District of Elmbrook and the Elmbrook Education Foundation.

Understanding and Addressing School Refusal with Deanna Marincic (GALS Institute)
Deanna Marincic MSW, LCSW and Owner of Gals Institute, and Founder of Thrive Together offers this educational presentation that offers vital information and resources to help families and educators, address school refusal and prevent avoidance in youth in other areas of their life. School avoidance and refusal alone have been on the rise, with approximately 10-15% of students identified as "chronically absent.” This increasing trend has been exacerbated and is tied to increased anxiety, social skill gaps, and challenges re-adapting to structured environments. Family and Educator involvement and understanding are key to your child's success. Together, we can create a supportive environment where every student can flourish.

About Speaker:
Deanna is a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist who has been working in the mental health field treating individuals, families, and adolescents for over 25 years with all levels of care. She has worked extensively with teenagers, their families and adult clients with addictions, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, family and couples work, co-parenting, and behavioral management skill building. In work with her clients, Deanna utilizes her humanistic approach along with formal training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a specialized treatment modality used to resolve trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy and Family Systems Approach.
