Elmbrook COVID Testing
Thanks to a grant from the Department of Health Services, beginning Monday, November 1, the District will offer free antigen COVID testing at select times each weekday to all District students, staff and their families. The grant’s objective is to slow the spread of the virus by identifying those who have the virus and enabling treatment or isolation.
This testing is optional, and is available to people with or without symptoms. The Abbott BINAX Rapid Antigen test will be administered by staff from NOVIR labs, and is able to produce results in 15 minutes. If positive, a confirming PCR test option will also be available on site with results within 24-48 hours. All results are communicated directly to the patient tested (or their family member) via the web application to ensure HIPAA privacy.
In preparation for the test and before coming on site, families should complete the registration steps below for each member of your family. Masks are mandatory in the school and we ask that you socially distance 6’ from other individuals.
To meet testing demand, we are modifying the days available to test to:
Monday and Friday morning (6:30am-8am)
Wednesday afternoon (3:00pm-4:30pm).
After resolving some technology barriers, beginning Wednesday, November 10, we are moving the testing site to the former Hillside Elementary School, 2250 N. Lynette Lane, Brookfield, WI 53045.
This testing option is only available during school days and will not be open this Friday (Nov 5) or Monday (Nov 8), or any other non-school days going forward.
Also, to help clarify purpose, this testing process is best used by:
Symptomatic people to confirm covid + with antigen test
Asymptomatic people wanting to confirm covid negative
Asymptomatic people currently in quarantine preparing to return to work/school in need of a negative PCR test on day 5, 6, or 7 of quarantine
As a reminder, this testing option is the result of a grant from the Department of Health Services. The Abbott BINAX Rapid Antigen test will be administered by staff from NOVIR labs, and is able to produce results in 15 minutes. A confirming PCR test option will also be available on site with results within 24-48 hours. All results are communicated directly to the patient tested (or their family member) via the web application to ensure HIPAA privacy. Summit Labs remains a great alternative and can typically deliver a PCR test result in 24 hours.
In preparation for the test and before coming on site, families should complete the registration steps below for each member of your family and review the testing protocols as they differ for symptomatic and asymptomatic people. Masks are mandatory in the school and we ask that you socially distance 6’ from other individuals.

Steps for Onsite Testing
Step 1: Before arriving at school, families/staff must provide consent to test by completing the HIPAA-compliant Novir registration found at https://trackbynovir.com/login
Step 2: The student/staff member will provide their name and date of birth to be checked in.
Step 3: The Novir staff will gather a sample for a COVID test. The sample is a front-of-nose anterior nasal swab, with five swirls in each nostril. The whole testing process takes approximately 2 minutes. After the test is completed, we ask families to return to their cars if they wish to wait onsite for results in case a PCR test is warranted (see Step 5).
Step 4: After the test has been processed, an alert will be sent via text and/or email that your results are ready to be viewed in your Novir Account. You can also get your results by going to the Novir Help Desk. Typically, you should receive a text/email notification within 15 minutes.
Step 5: If you are asymptomatic and receive a positive antigen test result or if you are symptomatic and receive a negative antigen test, a confirmatory laboratory PCR test is required. In both of these scenarios, you can re-enter the site to have this PCR test taken. The student/staff member will be asked to stay home from school/work while the PCR results are pending. Results are typically processed within 24 - 48 hours.
As always, contact your child’s medical provider to discuss other measures or specific conditions related to your child’s care. Thank you for your partnership on this work as we strive to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.
