Registration for our summer programs and classes is still OPEN. We have new programs like Life Skills & Laughter and favorites like Young Leaders Academy. Sign up by Saturday, June 1 for summer programs!

Life Skills & Laughter


WHAT: Come together and focus on learning everyday skills in fun and creative ways! Enjoy working with your friends on themes such as: Styling your hair, taking care of your skin and nails (personal hygiene), making delicious (and healthy) desserts (including kitchen safety), shopping sales (handling money), top ten ways to create a fun workout (exercise), and much more.


WHEN: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30am - 12:30pm. The summer session will run from June 10 - August 30

Safety & Self-Defense


Learn how to stay safe and participate in self-defense activities. Learn real world safety techniques and strategies and get a great workout - Live safe and be smart!


This course has three sessions: Mondays from 6pm-8pm at the DSAW West Allis Office, Tuesdays in Slinger from 4pm-6pm, and a special teen session of the course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm-5pm (right after Camp DSAW!!) at the West Allis office.

Digitability Class


Digitability is an award-winning employment-readiness program used to prepare young adults with special needs for today's tech-driven workplaces. It's one-of-a-kind curriculum teaches skills through real-world simulations, using evidence-based practices. Young adults with any developmental disability that want to work in a community-based setting are invited to join us. Students will learn technological literacy, online safety, workplace communication/socialization, and more.


The summer semester of this course runs June 10 - August 30. We offer this class at two locations:


Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am-11:30am on the Eastside of Milwaukee
Mondays and Wednesdays from 2pm-4:30pm at the DSAW office in West Allis

Other Summer Fun

Club DSAW: Farm Day (6/1)


Join us for a wonderful day at a family hobby farm! Experience what it's like to live along-side animals and nature. Lunch will be provided!

DSAW Summer Day Camp


Are you looking for a Day Camp this summer where your child age 12-17 can have fun and continue to build valuable skills? DSAW's Respite Day Camp is a program that provides multiple types of curriculum and activities. We will practice social skills and hands on life skills. We will also be selecting recipes and cooking in the kitchen. There will be a fun physical activity each afternoon. In addition, we will be taking field trips throughout the summer and integrating into the community! If you are in search of a place for your child to have fun, spend time with friends and learn... DSAW Respite Day Camp is the place to go! 


Camp runs June 17-August 2 (no camp the week of July 4), and you can pick and choose which weeks work for your family! We will offer full day and half day options.

iCan Shine Bike Camp

Once again, DSAW will partner with

the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin to host an iCan Shine Bike Camp. This camp helps individuals with special needs learn to ride a two-wheeled bicycle independently. DSAW has sponsored 3 spots for riders with Down syndrome!! If you are interested in attending at no cost to you, please email Rachel at rachel@dsaw.org.

Life Skills Bootcamp


Bootcamp meets year-round on Tuesday nights at 6pm at the DSAW State Headquarters in West Allis. Each month, this program offers a variety of fun and practical topics. We may be learning carpentry skills, doing art, talking about self-advocacy, or filming and creating our own video! Self advocates over 15 are welcome to join us!

Cooking with the Kiddos


Enjoy a fun night out with your little chef. This is a great opportunity to work on cooking skills and enjoy a tasty meal with your little one. Kids 8+ are invited to participate in a fun and tasty night of learning how to cook! Classes will be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the DSAW headquarters. This class is FREE!!


We take pride in offering a fully accessible, inclusive environment for everyone! We will have sensory-friendly supports available to those who need them. If your child needs one on one support, please contact us at info@dsaw.org.

Young Leaders Academy 


Our Young Leaders Class is a respite program coupled with a unique curriculum that will introduce students to important topics such as work ethic, communication skills, time management, acting as a team player, hygiene, and more. Each class also includes a recreational activity. This class is designed for anyone with a developmental disability that wants to work in a community-based setting!


We meet on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the DSAW State Headquarters. To register, click here.  


We also offer this class in Mequon on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Get more information for that session here!

Littles Club


Looking for a place for your son or daughter to hang out on Friday night?  Drop your 4-9 year old off at Littles Club for a night of respite and go out for a special dinner. At DSAW's Littles Club we'll be playing games, watching movies, making crafts and simply having a good time hanging out. We'll serve snacks and drinks, but the littles should eat dinner beforehand. The club opens at 5:00pm and closes up around 7:00pm. Littles Club is a great way for your child to have a fun Friday night while making friends and getting active. This monthly club is FREE!!


Littles Club is held on the fourth Friday of each month and will launch in June!

Motor Skills Playgroup


Bring your little one in for a Motor Skills Playgroup (gross & fine). We host a 2 hour workshop on the second and fourth Tuesday morning of the month at our State Headquarters in West Allis. Your child will have the opportunity to work with a certified occupational therapist and have fun playing with other kids. Playgroup also includes music therapy at no cost to you!


This class is a great way to help your child meet key developmental goals and set them up for a bright future. Playgroup will be from 9:30am - 11:30am and is open to all children below the age of 6.

Tween Club and Parent's Night Out

At DSAW's Parent's Night Out, caregivers are welcome to join us for a casual night of conversation and fun. DSAW buys appetizers, and drinks are available for purchase. We meet at Cleveland Pub in New Berlin! Also free!
