Battle of the BooksWe are currently finalizing our advisor for Battle of the Books. More information will be coming soon!Colleen Fenno LadwigThe statewide Battle of the Books program is designed to promote a love of reading among our students. It encourages students to read a variety of books and remember information about the plots, characters, and settings of the books. It is a fun, academic- based competition that has been very successful in school districts throughout the state.Meets on Tuesday during Wildcat Block in the Library.

We are excited to offer this club as an opportunity to engage with peers while developing problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills.10/4, 10/18, 11/1, 11/16, 12/6, 12/20, 1/10, 1/24 are the meetings for 1st semester. For 2nd semester we will be meeting in the library on 2/14, 2/28, 3/13, and our final meeting will be on 4/3. Tournament information will be emailed to families. All meetings will be in the Library from right after school to 3:30.

Environmental Club The E.co is an environmental club. We want the world to understand the benefits of recycling and consider using environmentally safe items to make the world a better place. We hope to send that message through this club, and inspire people to do what's right. We are going to do fun activities and learn ways we, as personal people, can do better to improve.

First Lego LeagueJudy ScaroJudy Scaro scaroj@elmbrookschools.orgFIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an international competition organized by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) for elementary and middle school students. Every August, FIRST LEGO League introduces a scientific and real-world challenge for teams to research and present solutions to. The competitions include 3 aspects, programming a robot to complete "missions" made of Legos, research and find a solution to a real world problem and demonstrate aspects of the CORE values throughout their communities. WHMS sponsors teams that participate in these competitions. Parents are volunteer coaches.

For students to explore their interest in performing. Students will learn 2 songs with choreography and will be assigned scenes to rehearse and refine acting skills. This club is offered for 5-6 weeks September to October. The last meeting will include an informal performance of what we have learned for parents/families. Open to all 6th grade students

Mock Trial Club Jon VogtJon Vogt vogtj@elmbrookschools.org The Mock Trial Club is for students who are interested in the law, acting or mysteries. Students practice their investigative and acting skills, then apply those to a real murder case, modified for a middle school audience. The club practices on Tuesdays after school, and will include one weekend and three evening competitions at WHMS. The club also receives guidance from the state champion Brookfield Central Mock Trial Club. The musical is an extracurricular opportunity open to all 6th-8th grade students. Students may audition to be a member in the cast or may sign up to be on Props Crew, Run Crew or Costume Crew! This is a full scale production that takes place at the end of January at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center. All students must complete registration in order to participate. National Junior Honor Society
John Kish-Are you looking for ways to serve your community and make our world a better place? Do you value academic excellence? National Junior Honor Society may be for you! NJHS is a club for 7th and 8th grade students to demonstrate and develop skills in leadership, service, character, and citizenship.NJHS applications were due on 9/22. The application window will open again at the start of next school year!
